An
exciting tour that takes you to
view one of Malaysia’s natural
wonders – a colony of fireflies
that congregates near a river in
Kuala Selangor.
At night, it becomes a beautiful
light show as the fireflies dance
in the night like little lanterns
of light. Our journey takes about
1 hour from Kuala Lumpur to reach
the town of Kuala Selangor.
There, we first take you on a trip
to the past to see Bukit
Melawati, where you can
see the ruins of a fortress known
as Kota Melawati, the Altingsburg
lighthouse and various
species of local wildlife including
silver leaf monkeys, long-tailed
macaque, birds and more.
After that, we take you back to
Kuala Selangor
for a sumptuous dinner. On the way,
we will drive by a series of paddy
fields where you can see how Malaysia’s
staple crop is grown. The rice fields
also offer a beautiful view. When
night has fallen, we depart to view
the fireflies. To get there, we
board a boat helmed by skilled boatmen.
Lifejackets will be provided. Studies
show that male fireflies flash three
times a second, while female fireflies
flash only once every three seconds.
Once we have admired Nature’s
light show, we depart back for Kuala
Lumpur.
